Embracing the Market: Developments in the Dutch Film and Television Sector since 1990 – Facts and Figures

Eggo Müller & Daisy van de Zande (Universiteit Utrecht)

In the context of the European Research Project SIFTI lead by Lillehammer University College, Daisy van der Zande and Eggo Müller have tried to get an overview over the general trends in the Dutch film and television sector. While the SIFTI project is interested in success factors in the private film and television industries on the level of organisations and companies (meso level), the overview over the sector in the Netherlands (macro level) aims to describe the economic, political and cultural environment within which Dutch film and television companies operate. Müller and Van de Zande will present lots of figures and charts, discuss their availability and reliability and suggest building on theories of neo-liberalism to interpret the developments of the sector in the Netherlands in the past decennia.

Eggo Müller (Professor of Media and Communication) and Daisy van de Zande (Lecturer  Media Studies) are both attached to Utrecht University’s Departement of Media and Culture Studies.
