Applied research and the Creative Industries

For the first TViT session of the new academic year, we welcome Wouter Groot,  Project Manager at the Center of Expertise Creative Industries, Hogeschool Utrecht, who will talk about the project The Future Now and applied research in the creative industries.

Begin 2013 is het onderzoeksproject The Future Now van start gegaan. Het project wordt uitgevoerd door de Hogeschool Utrecht in nauwe samenwerking met 8 collega hogescholen en diverse partners uit het mediaveld. Het hoger beroepsonderwijs streeft met projecten als The Future Now naar een sterke verbinding tussen beroepenveld en onderwijs doormiddel van toegepast onderzoek. 

De mediasector is sterk in ontwikkeling en moet zich constant kunnen aanpassen aan nieuwe omstandigheden. Om onderbouwde keuzes te kunnen maken bij ontwikkelen van nieuwe diensten is de methode van Business Modeling zeer bruikbaar. Het project richt zich op het ontwikkelen van nieuwe Business Modellen voor media bedrijven en het verhogen van de kennis over de methode. Voor het ontwerpen van een Business Model is gedegen kennis over de werking van de sector en de maatschappelijke uitwerking nodig. Het zijn aspecten waarmee van te voren uitspraken gedaan kunnen worden over het succes van een nieuwe dienst. 

De kennis en duiding die binnen de Universiteit Utrecht wordt ontwikkeld kan van grote waarde zijn in de beginstadia van het ontwerpen van een Business Model en zodoende voor het project. Daarbij geeft het netwerk van het project mogelijkheden om te gebruiken voor verder universitair onderzoek. Projectleider Wouter Groot zal over deze uitwisseling en mogelijkheden van gedachten wisselen.
